Transitional Kindergarten
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program designed for children
who were born on or after 9/2/2021 to 9/1/2022. All students who turn 4 by September 1, 2026 qualify for
TK. TK bridges the gap between preschool and kindergarten, providing young learners with a
developmentally appropriate curriculum that focuses on developmental growth and foundational academic
skills. This program helps ensure children are better prepared for success in kindergarten and beyond. TK
classes in Bonsall Unified use the California Department of Education’s Preschool Learning Foundations
as a guide. At BUSD, we believe in educating the whole child. To accomplish this goal in TK, we place a
significant focus on social connections and use a hands-on, inquiry, and play-based approach to learning.

Transitional kinder is held Monday - Friday from 8:15 am to 2:35 pm. There is Extended Care available if needed, please use the link below to apply.
